We will go through the extremely simple installation of NextCloud using a Ubuntu 18.04 server, including the setup of Ubuntu 18.04, a non-root user, and the necessary firewall rules.

At 22 minutes 23 seconds (22:23) I do the entire setup and install start to finish to show that it only takes 9 minutes (outside of waiting for the email from digital ocean for your one time password).

NextCloud is a free, open source, self hosted Dropbox alternative that keeps you in control of your data. It has active, long term development, and is continuing to push the limits of self hosted software options. Plug-ins (apps) are available to add tons of great features like Calendar, Contacts, Chat, Voice and Video Chat, Up to Date Weather, Audio Streaming, Document Editing and Conversion, Video Conversion, and so much more.
