Microsoft's interest in TikTok is about bolstering cloud hosting division: Pro

Microsoft is moving forward with talks to buy Chinese-owned short-form video app TikTok. According to the Wall Street Journal, TikTok says it has 100 million U.S. users, with internal revenue projections of one billion dollars this year and six billion by next year. But the talks come amid threats by President Trump to ban the app, with the State Department saying Chinese-owned apps such as TikTok and WeChat were “feeding data directly to the Chinese Communist Party.” Mark Douglas, CEO of advertising software company SteelHouse, and Ed Lee, corporate media reporter for the New York Times, join “Squawk Box” to discuss. 1. The Democrats are so beholden to Chinese communists that they are blinded! Trump has right to ban Tik Tok just as China had right to ban Facebook and a Google and many other USA companies! Hello, have you people forgotten Google and Facebook not allowed in China? TIK TOK was offered option to sell and get some profit for its Us operations, they DON’T HAVE TO SELL and can just accept ban like Facebook did in China! Trump is being much nicer to TIK TOK than China to Facebook!!

  2. Excellent point that Microsoft gets TikTok as a cloud customer.
Also means that Tiktok would incur less cloud expense so its profit also improves!

  3. Back to school shopping is happening for Apple Macbooks, iPads, subscriptions.
    I replaced a 5 year old 13in Macbook Pro for a new 13in Macbook Pro with 16GB ram/1TB SSD for $1999 and $250 Applecare.
Apple watch, 5G iphone coming in Oct 2020.

  4. The 2/2020 crash is long gone in history…the bull market has been going on 6 months. I'll ride this wave up over the next 8 years.

I bought Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Adobe, Alteryx, Wells Fargo, Twitter.
TRUST THE PROCESS. The stock market goes up in the long term because it takes 2 steps forward for every 1 step backward.
Cash is trash, it loses to inflation.

100% sure that the market will go up. Think about it, who would lend out their money and accept risk yet not get a
If the Fed had not stepped in, then every investor would rather keep their money and not lend it out, which would crash
the country and we'd have 100% unemployment.

There's a lot of money on the sidelines, including new 401K money coming in every day.

  5. Microsoft will be the cloud winner because its moat is Azure (private cloud) which cannot be copied by other companies
which have public cloud (Amazon, Google.). Due to federal compliance laws, some companies (banks) must keep data
in the U.S. in a private cloud.
For young people, Microsoft already has the minecraft game, Xbox.
Tiktok and LinkedIn are are freebie icings on the Microsoft cake.

  6. Joshua 1:9
[9]Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest..

  7. If personal data being acquired by the Chinese company is an issue, why not Microsoft for the same reason? Or if American companies GOOGLE, FACE BOOK, YOU TUBE , VISA, MASTER CARD and many others acquiring PERSONAL DATA around the globe mis-using and selling it and many times leaking out cannot be punished but TIK TOK? Or it is only a Trump election trick? I think TIK TOK should wait for the regime change in the USA.

  8. Americans and other non-Chinese owners owned TIK TOK 70%. Also millions of non-Chinese around globe make money by TIK TOK. China will lose only 30% but non-Chinese and Americans will lose 70% if TIK TOK demise.

  9. Shameless US government, fair competition, free trade, market economy, these beautiful words are not on your lips? How is changeable? What a rascal.

  10. Couldn't believe those comments. You also should believe there‘s 5g signal in your facial mask. You should never wear a mask otherwise Chinese can spy you.

  11. It's never about profit. It's about power and influence. Jeff Bozos doesn't own WP because it's a money maker. Warren Buffet doesn't own all the newspapers because they help his port folio. But Microsoft which is owned by Bill Gates worries me a bit since he is a confessed eugenicist who has practiced his black art on the lives of innocent African children. Also he is a convicted criminal who was left off the hook in a anti-monopoly crime from a change in administration.
